Resumé Dr. Thomas M. Flynn is a Registered Professional Engineer, states of Colorado, and California. Dr. Flynn has a Ph.D. in Cryogenic Engineering (1958, University of Colorado). He is owner and founder of CRYOCO, Inc., past president of the National Cryogenic Engineering Association, and author of the engineering textbooks Cryogenic Process Engineering (Plenum Press) and Cryogenic Engineering (Taylor and Francis Press). The National Science Foundation appointed him to give training in cryogenic engineering in Japan, the People's Republic of China, and Thailand. He is one of the best-known and most respected (see Honors) cryogenic engineers in the world today. His clients include: The Boeing Airplane Company, Ball Aerospace, Wyle Laboratories, Edwards Air Force Base, General Electric, Pratt & Whitney, Rocketdyne, Rockwell International, NASA Ames Research Center, NASA Dryden Flight Center, NASA Lewis Research Labs, NASA Stennis Center, NASA Langley Research Center, NASA Kennedy Space Center, OSHA, US Navy, General Dynamics, Lockheed Aircraft Co., McDonnell Douglas, Sargent Controls, and Praxair. Education: B.A., B.S. (chemical engineering), Rice University, 1954 and 1955; Ph.D. (cryogenic engineering), University of Colorado, 1958,. Experience: Fifty-one years experience in cryogenics, including: 1955–1983, Cryogenic Engineering Laboratory of the US National Bureau of Standards, Boulder, Colorado; various positions including program manager for thermodynamics, phase equilibria, cryogenic instrumentation, and slush hydrogen technology; five years as Staff Consultant Cryogenics to Ball Aerospace; private practice as consulting engineer in cryogenics since 1983. Dr. Flynn is a cryogenic safety instructor for NASA and the US Air Force and conducts training in cryogenic safety and safety with high pressure gas systems for industrial clients nationwide as well. Dr. Flynn is an experienced expert witness in cryogenic safety and high pressure gas hazards. Publications: Over sixty (60) publications in the peer reviewed scientific literature including the most widely used book in the field, Cryogenic Engineering, 2nd ed., Taylor and Francis Press, 895 pages, 2005. Patents: Hydrogen liquefaction techniques, hydrogen-powered rocket engines, cryogenic fuels for hypersonic aircraft and rocket propulsion, increased density hydrogen, and cryogenic monopropellants.
